OpenAI expanded ChatGPT advertising to select European markets, India, the Middle East, and North Africa on Thursday, simultaneously announcing infrastructure additions that reposition the product from a test-and-learn ad placement to a full enterprise ad stack. New capabilities: carousel ads with per-product-level reporting; a natural-language plugin for campaign creation and analysis inside Ads Manager; a Conversions API now accepting hashed phone numbers, names, postal codes, and Google Advertising ID (GAID) match keys; expanded Measurement Pixel support; editable custom audiences without list rebuilds; and a planned conversion optimisation model incorporating both click-through and view-through attribution. The GAID match key addition is the technically significant detail: it enables cross-platform audience matching at the level of infrastructure that has defined the Google/Meta duopoly's measurement advantage for a decade. OpenAI is not building a simple ad product. It is building the attribution infrastructure and audience data architecture that enterprise advertisers require before committing meaningful budget. The global rollout removes the US-only objection for international brands. The GEO implication is a flywheel: brands running paid campaigns in ChatGPT simultaneously provide the model with structured product information that improves organic citation accuracy — a reinforcing relationship between paid and earned AI visibility that does not exist in traditional search advertising.
