Google added four experimental advertising metrics to Chrome's User Experience Report (CrUX) on 15 September: ad count per page, ad density by viewport area, CPU load attributable to ad scripts, and network bandwidth consumed by advertising requests. No performance thresholds have been set, and the metrics are not currently attached to ranking signals. The Core Web Vitals precedent is instructive: metrics entered CrUX as experimental before becoming ranking factors 6 to 12 months later. Publishers with high ad density, heavy third-party ad tech pipelines, or aggressive interstitial placements should treat the collection window as a grace period rather than confirmation of no future impact.
